Sharkboy Tray Surfer
Inspired by the indestructible McDonalds food tray as a superb alternative body surfing vessel the Sharkboy Corkie tray surfer shares a similar water contact surface area.
Handmade with a woven fibreglass core sandwiched between 2 very thin layers of aviation grade Baltic birch plywood. The board has a scooped nose, which acts to reduce spray to the riders face and a pair of parallel glassed fins for improved performance as well as a nylon cord ready for you to attach your leash if required.
The deck has 2 options:
- 1 Corkie - Cork deck laminated to the board with screen printed logo (Board thickness 5mm) The corkie board offers amazing grip without needing to use wax, especially good in cold water when wearing neoprene mittens/ gloves.
- 2 Checkerboard - Cotton inlay laminated deck with Sharkboy logo (Board thickness 4mm)
Approximate dimensions (not including fins) are 530mm length, 390mm width.
Board hulls are finished with Danish oil and beeswax. (Care instructions included)
ABOUT SHARKBOY BELLYBOARDS:
My love of the sea started with sailing, as kids my brother and I did some windsurfing and dinghy sailing courses with the RYA in the summer holidays and were both hooked.
I went on to work as a GRP boat builder, first at yacht builders Colvic craft in Earls Colne, where we made some interesting craft including the kevlar reinforced Millennium Farr 65 round the world yachts. I then worked at White Formula in Brightlingsea for Olympic sailor Rob White mainly building Dart 18 catamarans.
All Sharkboy Bellyboards are handmade from responsibly sourced, Forest Friendly wood.
